LECMPA & TCU: A Partnership That Puts Members First
For over a century, LECMPA has had one mission: protecting union transportation workers when life throws a curveball. And when it comes to the Transportation Communications Union (TCU), that partnership has been rock solid.
Why This Matters to You
If you’re a TCU member, you know the job comes with responsibility — and sometimes, unexpected challenges. That’s where LECMPA steps in. From job insurance during disciplinary suspensions to accidental death benefits and loyalty dividends at retirement, LECMPA is here to make sure you and your family are covered.
What Makes LECMPA Different?
- Coverage designed for TCU crafts—clerks and crew callers, carmen, railway supervisors, and more.
- Personalized claims handling—because every situation is unique.
- A binding contract protects your covered discipline days and daily rate.
A Century of Trust
This isn’t a new relationship. LECMPA and TCU have worked side by side for generations, educating members, supporting union officers, and showing up at meetings to make sure you know your options.
TCU’s Rich History of Unity
Over the years, TCU has grown stronger by bringing together multiple unions under one umbrella. Here are the eight unions that merged into TCU:
- Brotherhood of Railway, Airline, Steamship Clerks, Freight Handlers, Express and Station Employees – organized in 1899
- Order of Railroad Telegraphers – merged in 1969
- Railway Patrolmen’s International Union – merged in 1969
- United Transport Service Employees (Red Cap/Skycap workers) – merged in 1972
- Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters – merged in 1978
- American Railway and Airways Supervisors Association – merged in 1980
- Western Railway Supervisors Association – merged in 1983
- Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of America – merged in 1986
This legacy of unity is what makes TCU such a powerful advocate for its members today.
Spotlight: TCU’s New President
In December 2025, the TCU Executive Council unanimously elected Matt Hollis (CSX Transportation) as National President Elect. This leadership change brings fresh energy and continued commitment to its members.
LECMPA President Rod Bloedow Shares in the excitement:
“LECMPA recognizes the need to keep pace and evolve with the times, for the stresses placed on its members have never been greater. Our Association proudly congratulates President Hollis on his election and looks forward to working together to strengthen protections for TCU members nationwide.”
